Hello, everyone,

Welcome to December this week! It really is “beginning to look a lot like Christmas.”

Manchester Locally Grown online farmers’ market is now open for ordering.

A message from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse:

We are taking orders through the market for beautiful kissing balls. Made with live greens and other natural materials, these balls are about 18" diameter and suitable to hang on a shepherd’s crook for a beautiful outside Christmas decoration. Each one is mounted on a sturdy hanger and includes a red ribbon bow (although not shown on one).

Cider and jelly, perennial plants, local baked goods, pork products, herbal bath & body products, local honey, fresh-laid chicken & duck eggs, and plenty more products are to be found on our market. Give them a try! Many of these items are suitable for gift-giving. Also remember our Gift Certificates available in any denomination for Christmas or other gifts.

And lastly, let us know if you are interested in a beautiful live Christmas wreath, made in three sizes and decorated by a local Moore County farmer. These are not currently listed on the market, but arrangements can be made to have them available if you would like one.

REMEMBER:

  • Growers can sometimes remove items at the last minute, affecting your invoice. Please wait to make out your check until your total is established at market.
  • If you do not receive an order confirmation within 5 minutes, your order has NOT been placed in the system. Log back in and press the Place Your Order button; then you should receive an e-mail to confirm the order. E-MAIL tnhomeschooler@yahoo.com OR CALL US at (931) 273-9708 if the problem persists so you will not be disappointed on market day.
  • Take a look at our offerings and support your friends and neighbors who produce these quality items on their own farms. Remember: ordering will close on Wednesday at 10 p.m..
  • A sampling of items available from our local farmers: (L to R) Pork Chops from Weaver Farms, Onion “Candy” from White City Produce & Greenhouses,Green Oakleaf Lettuce from Frontier Family Farm, Christmas Kissing Balls from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse, Molded Lotion Bar from Solace Farm.

We’ll see you for pickup of your order on Thursday between 3:00 and 4:30 at Square Books, 113 E Main, Manchester. We can also hold your order in the refrigerator till Friday morning, if that’s more convenient for you. Just call (931) 273-9708 if you prefer to utilize this free service. Square Books will be open on Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thanks so much for your support of Manchester Locally Grown Market, all of our growers, local food, and our right to eat it. Please encourage our local farmers by helping to spread the word about our wonderful market to everyone you know. Nothing makes a farmer more excited than seeing new customers on the market!

    Blessings,
    Linda

Joyful Noise Acres Farm:  The market is open for orders.

Good morning. It may be hard for many of us to think about food at the moment but the market is open for ordering. We will resume our regular hours this week of 12-4 pick-up.

The turkey stock is simmering as I write which reminds me to remind you of the class on December 6. We will learn about stocks and broths, not only the benefits but how to make them taste wonderful. You do not have to be a farm member to attend. Please e-mail marybeth@pasturedmeats to register.

Many of our farmers and producers may be a little later updating the market with the holiday yesterday. If you don’t see something you want or need, let us know.

We have a fresh shipment of butter in, salted and unsalted so be sure to pick up a pound or two on Wednesday.

Have a great weekend and we will see you on Wednesday.

    Blessings,
    Mary Beth
